Uso de IV previsível em modo CBC

O modo CBC (Cipher Block Chaining) exige um vetor de inicialização (IV) aleatório e impprevisível para cada cifragem. Usar um IV fixo, sequencial ou derivável torna o esquema de criptografia vulnerável a ataques de padrão e descriptografia sem a chave, comprometendo a confidencialidade dos dados.

Ejemplo

Um aplicativo que cifra senhas em modo CBC sempre usando IV=0 ou IV incremental (1, 2, 3...). Um atacante que observe múltiplos textos cifrados nota que mensagens idênticas produzem criptogramas iguais, permitindo inferir padrões e recuperar dados sensíveis.

Cómo mitigar

Gere um IV criptograficamente aleatório (via /dev/urandom, SecureRandom, etc.) para cada operação de cifragem e transmita-o junto do criptograma. Use bibliotecas maduras (OpenSSL, NaCl, Bouncy Castle) que aplicam IV aleatório por padrão; evite implementar CBC manualmente.
